Cloud Based Secure Storage Model for Digital Forensics

Developed a digital forensic storage model that provides multiple layers of security to preserve and maintain the integrity of the digital evidence in a cloud environment so that it is deemed admissible in a court of law.
The model supports multiple roles and permissions allowing only authorized users to access and handle the digital evidence ingested in the system.
Authentication and authorization of users is managed using cryptographically signed JSON Web Tokens. Advanced Encryp- tion Standard and Hash-based Message Authentication Code techniques are used for encryption of data and maintenance of data integrity respectively.
Evidence file names are obfuscated and stored in a separate cloud service, making it less vulnerable. Maintenance tasks are also scheduled using the cron utility to rotate the encryption keys.
